+Sí te escucho. Bien, nada aquí, acabo de llegar del trabajo y nada, descansando.
-¿Qué tal en el trabajo hoy?
+Sí, un viaje en tren. Yo trabajo en un colegio de primaria y educación infantil porque soy lo que se suele llamar cuidadora,auxiliar cuidadora y, bueno, básicamente eso es una labor de acompañamiento desde que entran en el colegio a las clases, de acompañamiento a la hora del recreo, acompañamiento, como decíamos en los cambios de clase, acompañamientos a comedor y ayuda en el comedor, si así lo necesita.
Sí es cierto que, a la hora de la verdad, también desempeñas labores de apoyo educativo dentro del aula. Sobre todo, cuando el niño está en clase con el resto de sus compañeros, no con un especialista en un aula aparte. Ayudarlo a alcanzar una autonomía coordinadamente con en el resto de los del personal del centro.
La formación exigida para mi tipo de trabajo es básicamente un graduado en ESO. No te exigen nada más. Sin embargo, claro, a la hora de la verdad, pues tú necesitas una formación porque estás trabajando con niños con unas necesidades específicas, especiales y requieren formación. Esa formación, a mí me la ha dado, pues la que yo he ido adquiriendo voluntariamente a lo largo de todos estos años realizando cursos. Lo necesitas para realizar tu trabajo. Necesitas esa formación que nadie te exige y que es básica y necesaria.
Ves el resultado en el avance de ese niño, en la autonomía que tiene a la hora de relacionarse con los demás. Tú no es una muleta, tú eres su apoyo para para integrarse en el ámbito escolar.
-Y, a ti como persona, ¿qué te aporta tu profesión?
+¡Uf! Pues todo, muchas satisfacciones, nada más que satisfacciones, muchas satisfacciones y muchas… el deseo siempre de mejorar… de ver las dificultades que tiene esa persona y como tú puedes ayudarle a ir superadoras. Cómo puedes aportar tu granito de arena.
Tiene que ser una labor de coordinación y comunicación con los padres con la familia que también tiene que estar implicada y yo siempre he intentado comunicarme lo máximo posible con ellos porque además son niños que normalmente pues tienen también medicaciones que les influyen en el día a día y es necesario tiene que haber comunicación con la familia con el centro incluso pues en la etapa infantil que la mayor parte de ellos van a las sesiones de atención temprana también ahí requiere esa comunicación.
Lo importante es que poco a poco se reconozca nuestra labor también. Nuestro grupo de categoría profesional solo implica una labor asistencial, cuando estoy contando que es mentira, estamos haciendo una labor mucho más grande. Pero bueno, es parte de nuestra reivindicación también. Y eso, nada, que tu trabajo solo te aporta cosas buenas, solo buenas. Para mí, por lo menos.

I work in a primary and childhood education school because I am what is usually called a caregiver, an assistant caregiver and, well, basically this is a task of accompanying them from the moment they enter the school to their classrooms, accompanying them at break time, accompanying them, as we were saying, when they change classroom, accompanying them to the cafeteria and helping them in the cafeteria, if necessary.
It is true that, when it comes down to it, you also perform educational support tasks in the classroom. Especially when the child is in the classroom with the other classmates, not with a specialist in a separate room. Helping the child to achieve autonomy in coordination with the rest of the center’s staff.
The training required for my type of work is basically an ESO degree. Anything else is required. However, of course, when it comes down to it, you need training, because you are working with children with specific needs, special needs, and they require training. This training has been given to me, because I have been acquiring it voluntarily throughout all these years taking courses. You need it to do your job. You need that training that nobody demands from you and that is basic and necessary.
You see the result in the child’s progress, in the autonomy he or she has when it comes to interacting with others. You are not a crutch, you are his or her support to integrate him o her into the school environment.
-And what does your profession bring to you as a person?
+Phew! Well, everything, many satisfactions, nothing but satisfactions, many satisfactions and many… the desire to always improve… to see the difficulties that person has and how you can help him or her to overcome them. How you can do your bit.
It has to be a work of coordination and communication with the parents and with the family that also has to be involved, and I have always tried to communicate as much as possible with them because they are also children who normally take medication that affect their daily lives, and it is necessary to communicate with the family and the center. Even during childhood, when most of them go to early care sessions, that communication is also required.
The important thing is that little by little our work is also recognized. Our professional category group only implies a welfare task, and I am saying that it is not true, we are doing a much bigger task. But, well, it is part of our claim too. And nothing else. Your work only brings you good things, only good things. To me, at least.
