Hola, me llamo Noemí González Caravantes y trabajo de camarera, sobre todo durante el período de verano; estuve en varios puestos en el sector hostelero, sobre todo ir a las ferias en todo el verano. En otros ámbitos estuve trabajando también fueron en los banquetes y en este verano, de pandemia, estuve en un restaurante de comidas.
Mi motivación para empezar a trabajar en este sector fue la de ganar dinero y así, ir sufragando mis gastos. Una amiga me ofreció ir a una feria y dije “¿por qué no?”; pues desde entonces, llevaba 4 años acudiendo a estas hasta que llegó la pandemia.
Para mí, ser camarera significa bastante. En primer lugar, conoces a todo tipo de personalidades a la hora de ir a atender a una mesa y a otra, diferentes personas… Por lo tanto, también te tienes que enfrentar a su carácter, malas contestaciones y en todo momento poner buena cara; esto significa que tienes que tener un autocontrol personal súper grande.
Una de las cosas que más me gustan es que la gente te cuenta todos sus problemas, como si fueras su confidente y también, cuando a estos clientes les gusta que tú los vayas a atender, te ponen muy buena cara, incluso te llaman a ti para que vayas.
Lo que más me anima para ir de camarera a las ferias es conocer distintos lugares y ver los diferentes lugares y tradiciones. Cuando me preguntan “¿por qué camarera y no otro trabajo en el sector?”, les respondo que es muy simple; a mí personalmente me gusta mucho tratar con la gente, aunque como todos sabemos, también hay personas difíciles de llevar y en esos momentos es en los que te planteas si seguir o dejar. Tengo que decir que actualmente no estoy trabajando, pero cuando ejercía de camarera durante el verano, la verdad es que había mucha gente, ya que era un lugar de paso para trabajadores que acostumbraban a comer fuera de sus casas, ya que en su jornada de trabajo estaban lejos de las mismas.
El sector de la hostelería es uno de los que tuvo y tiene muchos inconvenientes a la hora de trabajar en plena pandemia, poniéndosele muchas restricciones y después, viendo que vas por la calle y están abarrotadas de gente, sin guardar las distancias. Hace un año podías ver mesas llenas de gente, con un número inmenso de comensales, un número inmenso de amigos tomando algo, pasándolo bien. Actualmente solo cuatro o seis personas en la mesa, viéndose que no hay tanto contacto entre las distintas mesas que pueden estar en un mismo local.
Las personas entran con más precaución en los locales, si ven que hay bastante clientela, ya ni intentan entrar, cuando antes, aunque no cogiera un alfiler, te intentabas colar. La clientela de los locales es muy variada y si, los que vienen todos los días respetan las normas y saben cómo es el funcionamiento de los locales, pero los otros, no.
Los camareros y camareras somos personas ante todo, no robots ni superhéroes que hacen las cosas súper rápido. El tema de la pandemia creo que ha afectado bastante a este sector y aún piden más de lo que podían pedir anteriormente.

What most encourages me to go as a waitress to the fairs is to know different places and see the different places and traditions. When they ask me "why waitress and not another job in the industry?", I answer that it is very simple; I personally like very much to deal with people, although as we all know, there are also people difficult to take and at that time is when you think about whether to continue or leave. I have to say that I am not currently working, but when I was a waitress during the summer, the truth is that there were a lot of people, since it was a place of passage for workers who used to eat outside their homes, because on their working day they were far from them.

A year ago, you could see tables full of people, huge number of diners, huge number of friends having a drink, having a good time.
