Hello, my name is Araceli, I am 24 years old and I was born in Noia, a village that is half and hour from Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia. I currently live in A Coruña because two years ago I finished my nursing degree here. I have a vocation to be a nurse because I like to take care of people and specifically those who are in more critical situations. That’s why I’m working in the public hospital here called Juan Canalejo or CHUAC, specifically in intensive care units. I have been working in the covid-19 unit for a year due to the pandemic. My shifts are between 7 and 10 hours, depending on whether I work morning or afternoon, 7 hours, or night, 10 hours. During the most critical moments of the pandemic, specifically in the first wave, I was in two jobs at the same time, in the Quirón Salud, a private hospital in A Coruña, specifically in the emergency room and in the respiratory area, and in the Juan Canalejo hospital. Currently, due to the improvement in the situation, I don’t have to double at both hospitals and I don’t work between 10 and 14 hours a day, but I work between 7 or 10 hours and I have a free shift. I will continue working as a nurse because I love my occupation.
